Turkmenistan celebrated the International Day of Neutrality and the 27th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution on the permanent neutrality of the country.
The main events of the holiday were held in Ashgabat. In the morning, a flower-laying ceremony at the Monument of Neutrality was held here with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Following the president, leaders and representatives of the country's parliament, government, ambassadors of Turkmenistan to foreign countries, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ashgabat, elders, representatives of public organizations, Ashgabat residents and guests of the capital laid flowers at the Monument of Neutrality.
On the same day, a festive concert dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality and the 27th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution on the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan was held at the State Cultural Center in the capital. Festive events dedicated to the holiday of the country's neutrality were held in all regions of Turkmenistan.
The Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan was established in honor of the adoption on December 12, 1995 by the UN General Assembly of a special resolution on the permanent neutrality of the country. In 2017, at the initiative of Ashgabat, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality.
