Turkmenistan Celebrates Gurban Bayramy with Festive Events Across the Nation

Ashgabat: The sacred holiday of Gurban bayramy (Eid al-Adha), a significant celebration within the Islamic world, is being observed throughout Turkmenistan. This holiday symbolizes spiritual unity, solidarity, and noble aspirations among the people. According to Turkmenistan State News Agency, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recently signed a decree declaring that Gurban bayramy would be celebrated for three consecutive days-6th, 7th, and 8th of June. However, as the holiday fell on a Sunday, 8th of June, it was officially moved to 9th of June to accommodate celebrations. Throughout these three days, colorful events will take place across the nation, including in administrative centers, etraps, villages, parks, cultural centers, and theaters in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag. These events aim to foster a sense of pride in the rich history and contemporary achievements of the Turkmen people. President Berdimuhamedov highlighted that Gurban bayramy, celebrated during the Internation al Year of Peace and Trust, embodies the enduring moral values, traditions, and rituals of Eastern peoples, including those of Turkmenistan, promoting humanism and goodwill.
