Turkmenistan, China to expand mutual investments

ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan and China will expand the scale of mutual investments as part of stimulating key areas of further partnership, Trend reports via the Turkmen Foreign Ministry. According to the ministry, the issue was revealed following the third meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Working Group on Investment Cooperation in Ashgabat. The meeting reviewed key areas of cooperation, including the outcomes of agreements reached between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of China Xi Jinping at the Central Asia-China summit back in May 2023. The parties also reaffirmed their readiness to continue deepening cooperation, with a particular focus on traditional areas such as energy and infrastructure, as well as developing new areas, including green energy and new minerals. The Turkmen delegation presented specific measures to improve the investment climate and progress in the process of joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), along with updated assessments from the international rati ng agency Fitch Ratings. Moreover, the Chinese side was briefed on progress in the oil and gas sector, transportation, and the chemical industry. Representatives of the business communities from both countries exchanged detailed views on enhancing investment relations in the industrial sector and agreed to continue improving cooperation mechanisms aimed at creating new growth points.
