Turkmenistan Commemorates 80th Anniversary of Victory Day

Ashgabat: Today, Turkmenistan is celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, marking it as a significant national holiday. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, participated in the flower-laying ceremony at the "Halk hakydasy" memorial complex.

According to Turkmenistan State News Agency, this holiday is deeply ingrained in the lives of Turkmenistan's citizens, symbolizing their pride in their ancestors and the legacy they cherish. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in his address, highlighted that war and labor veterans contribute significantly to the country's development and play a vital role in instilling patriotism and courage among the youth.

The President emphasized the nation's respect for those who fought during 1941-1945, including veterans, mothers who endured wartime hardships, and all who bravely served. The older generation is regarded as a source of inspiration, teaching love for the homeland and respect for human dignity.

Over a hundred compatriots have been honored as Heroes for their courage on the battlefield, with thousands receiving combat orders and medals. Among these honored individuals is Berdimuhamet Annaev, great-grandfather of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, whose legacy remains a beacon of patriotism and valor.

In 2020, during the 75th anniversary of Victory, significant events took place, including the visit of the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation to the Turkmen capital to participate in the celebrations and present the Battle Banner of the 748th Rifle Regiment, where Berdimuhamet Annaev served.

This year's anniversary also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, adding to the significance of the celebrations.
