Located at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, Turkmenistan pays great attention to the preservation of cultural heritage and development of cultural sphere of the country. During the years of Independence, Turkmenistan realized a vast work in this direction which is reflected in the special illustrative edition entitled “Sphere of Culture of Turkmenistan.” This publication is also dedicated to the 25th anniversary of obtaining the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. The sphere of culture plays a big role in the development of the country. As the President of Turkmenistan notes “the culture is an endless source of power which contributes to the formation of national characteristics of each nation and serves as a spiritual bridge for unity.”
The rich Turkmen culture, including the library, museum, theatrical, publishing work, material and non-material cultural heritage of Turkmenistan and the musical art are comprehensively described in the book of “Sphere of Culture of Turkmenistan.” It also tells about the work of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radiobroadcasting and Cinematography, as well as the cultural events contributing to the strengthening of friendly relations between the states.
The tangible and intangible objects which received the international recognition and were entered into the Guinness Book of Records, as well as in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO and UNESCO World Heritage List are extensively described in the book.
