Turkmenistan fears rising terrorism due to unemployment

Ashgabat hosted a meeting of members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan with a UN delegation led by UN Counter-Terrorism Directorate (KTU) Christopher O. Donnell . This is reported on the officialSPPT site .

According to the SPPT website, during the meeting, the chairman of the Union acquainted the guests with the activities of the organization he heads and spoke about the achievements of Turkmen entrepreneurs.

The parties agreed that "the solution of employment issues of the population is one of the factors of counteracting negative phenomena in the life of society."

Recall that on June 14, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov adopted the Program for the Adaptation of Youth to the Labor Market.

The head of state regularly instructs government members to work with entrepreneurs and create jobs. Despite this, in mid-May, dozens of small private shops and services for the provision of various services were closed in Ashgabat .

The problem of unemployment in Turkmenistan is very acute. In the capital, according to the 2017 Chronicle of Turkmenistan poll , the number of unemployed exceeds 50%, and in the whole country, according to Radio Azatlyk, it reaches 60%. Left without earnings, people are not registered at the labor exchange .
