Turkmenistan – Georgia: Strengthening of beneficial partnership

Wide spectrum of issues of Turkmen – Georgian cooperation has been discussed during the session of representatives of Turkmenistan and Georgia, which was held in the format of video conference session.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that our neutral state is always open for fruitful cooperation with all interested foreign partners, including with Georgia, which our country connected with by old friendship.

Agreements reached on high level in the last few years made a reliable base for bringing Turkmen – Georgian partnership to new levels.

Important role in expansion of long-term trade and economic relations is given to Intergovernmental Commission, which is to activate multidimensional partnership inclduign between business structures.

Heads and representatives of the Ministry of Finances and Economics, Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Affairs, number of agencies, transport and logistic centres of our country have also taken part in the video conference session.

Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandr Khvatisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development, Deputy Ministers of Finances, heads of agencies and companies took part in the session from Georgian side.

Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan Mamuka Murjikneli has also taken part in the online meeting.

As is known, beneficial geographic location of two states and similarity of economic interests provide beneficial prepositions for efficient consolidation of efforts for establishment of multimodal transit and transport corridors with involvement of potentials of Caspian and Black Sea regions.

This is visually indicated by the project of Lazuli transport corridor Afghanistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey. Implementation of such projects will provide wide opportunities for interregional integration, support to intensification of trade and economic cooperation in entire Eurasian space.

In this context, special highlight has been made on cooperation in transport and transit sphere during the conference. Special attention has been paid to international transport corridor Caspian Sea – Black Sea. In this regard, importance of establishment of beneficial contacts in logistic sphere has been noted.
