President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of automating the processing and issuance of passports and the introduction of a centralized digital population registration system .

The head of state also instructed that the presentation of passports to citizens who have reached the age of 16 should take place in a solemn atmosphere.

This year Turkmenistan will host a population and housing census. In October 2021, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the motto and emblem for the population census.
