Turkmenistan plans to start creating its own courts at the end of this year - the beginning of the next. This was announced by the head of the Agency for Sea and River Routes of Turkmenistan , Annadurdy Kosaev , on August 16 at the International Conference of Transport Ministers of Landlocked Countries, Korabel.ru writes .
“As part of the project to increase the national merchant marine fleet, its international competitiveness , modern ships are being built to transport oil, oil products and other products, in particular, a ship repair shipyard was also built and put into operation near the port in 2018. This is also a new industry for our country in the field of heavy industry. Negotiations are now underway to attract loans , attract investors, we plan to build our ships at the end of this year or the beginning of next year with the involvement of specialists and consultants,” the official said.
Kosaev clarified that it is, first of all, dry cargo ships.
Recall that back in October last year, the director of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers , Mammetkhan Chakiev, reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that the individual enterprise "Hazar logistik" (a member of the UIET) plans to build a dry cargo ship with a carrying capacity of 5300– 8100 tons.
Then in December it became known that Ashgabat would receive a $45 million loan from the OPEC Fund for the development of the merchant marine fleet. In particular, three ships will be built: a dry cargo ship, a passenger ship and a ship for the carriage of railway cargo.
The new seaport, as well as the Balkan shipyard in the city of Turkmenbashi, were put into operation in May 2018. Their construction cost $1.5 billion. At that time, it was reported that the plant's capacity would be enough to build 4-6 ships per year. At the moment, Balkan has not produced a single ship.
