A delegation from Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Head of the Agency "Turkmen Sea and River Routes" Seyitguly Baiseyidov paid a three-day visit to the Astrakhan region of Russia.
Representatives of Turkmenistan visited the Astrakhan enterprises of the port and shipbuilding industry: VTS-port, the Olya commercial seaport, Flotproekt design bureau and the Lotos shipbuilding plant of the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (SSC), writes Port News.
Lotus Managing Director Dmitry Stepanov said that the Turkmen delegates were shown the technical and personnel capabilities of the enterprise and expressed their readiness to help in shipbuilding and training of specialists, engineers and workers.
According to the Minister of Industry and Natural Resources of the Astrakhan region Mikhail Kabakov , regional and Turkmen enterprises were invited to consider the possibility of joint development of logistics capacities.
The management of the port of Olya presented its capabilities and discussed the possibility of cooperation between the port and enterprises of Turkmenistan. In "VTS-port" the members of the delegation were told about the possibilities for transshipment of goods.
“As for the cargo going to Iran, we plan to introduce the port of Turkmenbashi as a port that transships cargo in the Iranian direction. This will allow cargo owners to use the new route and increase the volume of traffic,” said Mikhail Kabakov.
