The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belarus is looking for athletes among Turkmen students at local universities who could represent the country at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022. This is stated in a letter to the leadership of Belarusian universities signed by Ambassador Nazargula Shagulyev , a copy of which was made available to Turkmen News .
The diplomat asks to inform Turkmen students studying in Belarus that the Embassy is conducting qualifying rounds to collect athletes from among students to participate in the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. They are looking for athletes in curling, biathlon, figure skating, hockey, skiing, short track and ice skating.
The publication drew attention to the fact that the letter signed by the ambassador, who previously held the post of deputy prime minister of the government, was drafted rather illiterate.
It should be noted that previously, Turkmenistan has never participated in winter olympiads.
