Turkmenistan is preparing for the next census. President requires digitize statistics

During a video conference call on December 17, the head of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, Khalykdurdy Gurbanov,reported to President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on preparations for the census of the country's population in 2022.

According to the state news agency TDH , the head of state stressed the importance of further developing the statistical system and called for the introduction of modern methods for analyzing statistical data.

"We need to move to a digital economy, a digital system for collecting and processing statistical data," said President Berdymukhamedov.

Recall that for the first time the state media reported about the new census in October 2018.

The totals of the previous census, which was conducted in 2012, were not published, and all references to it from the website of theState Statistics Committee were removed.

The census results became known to the Chronicle of Turkmenistan in 2015. According to these data , the population of the country in 2012, there were less than five million - 4 751 120 people.
