The International Sambo Federation (ISF) threatens to deprive Turkmenistan of the right to host the Championship in 2022, since the local authorities have not yet presented a plan for the event, according to the sports publication Inside the games .
Head of the Federation of Roberto Ferraris ( of Roberto Ferraris ) said that the organization will send a letter Serdar Berdymuamedovu , who heads the Federation of Martial Arts of Turkmenistan, with a request to provide a plan of the Championship and 31 December this year.
However, Ferraris doubts that the Turkmen side will have time to fulfill the demand and said that the MFS is already considering alternative possibilities for holding the competition.
“The plan for organizing the Championship must be submitted a year before its holding, after which we send a commission for verification on the spot. However, Turkmenistan did not fulfill the requirements. We have extended the deadline until the end of December, but personally I doubt that they will have time to provide us with guarantees, ”Ferraris said in an interview with the publication.
As a rule, SAMBO Championships are held in the first half of November.
Earlier, Ashgabat planned to host the Sambo Championship in 2020. For this, the President of the IFS Vasily Shestakov presented the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a certificate for his contribution to the development of SAMBO on the world stage, as well as a commemorative sign and a personalized sambist uniform.
In November 2020, it became known that Turkmenistan refused to host an event in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
