On December 2, the fifth online meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation was held.
Heads and representatives of ministries, sectoral departments and business circles of the two countries took part in the work of the Commission.
The meeting participants discussed issues of joint work on the transport corridor. Turkmenistan offered its Kyrgyz partners to use the seaport in Turkmenbashi for the transportation of goods in the East-West-East direction, the state information agency TDH reported .
The parties also discussed the need to take measures to increase the volume of mutual trade, expand the variety of supplied goods and services, build up investment ties, as well as establish direct contacts between economic entities of both states.
Meanwhile, "Sputnik-Kyrgyzstan" , citing the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, reports that the parties also discussed the extension of the supply of Turkmen electricity to 2022. Negotiations in this direction are being conducted at the level of heads of state and ministries, the newspaper writes.
Turkmenistan has been exporting electricity to Kyrgyzstan in transit through Uzbekistan since August 2021. It is planned that by December the Turkmen side will supply 501.9 million kWh at a price of 2.05 soms / kWh or $ 0.02422. According to the expert's calculations , Turkmenistan receives $ 0.02 per kWh, and the remaining $ 0.00422 is paid to Uzbekistan for transit.
