Turkmenistan received 193,000 PCR tests within the framework of the WB project for $20 million

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Turkmenistan handed over another batch of test systems for PCR diagnostics of COVID-19 to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.

On April 6, 193,000 tests worth more than 998,000 euros were delivered to the country as part of the World Bank-funded COVID-19 Response in Turkmenistan project.

As part of the same project, in early March, the Ministry of Health received laboratory equipment: 15 autoclaves with a volume of 75 liters and 6 autoclaves with a volume of 175 liters, as well as test systems for PCR diagnostics of COVID-19.

In mid-February, 10 Qiagen Rotor Gene Q Plex-6 machines, 10 thermoblocks, 6 microcentrifuges, 6 centrifuges and 6 autoclaves were delivered to the country. Then it was reported that this equipment had already been installed in Ashgabat, and in the future the regions would be equipped with it.

The $20 million COVID-19 Response Project in Turkmenistan is funded by the World Bank and implemented by UNDP and the Ministry of Health to help strengthen preparedness and response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to strengthen national testing and treatment capacity, improve the skills of medical workers, procure reagents, medicines and medical equipment, and address social and health risks associated with the pandemic.
