Turkmenistan releases all Tajik wagons from its territory

The authorities of Turkmenistan allowed vehicles with goods destined or exported from Tajikistan to leave the country , Asia-Plus reported on February 20 with reference to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan.

According to the ministry, all 12 Tajik trucks that have been there since the beginning of this month have left the territory of Turkmenistan.

The Ministry of Transport noted that it was still not allowed to enter vehicles with cargoes from Tajikistan into the Turkmen territory. About 50 trucks are still on the border of this country ( over 100, according to Azatlyk Radio ).

According to Azatlyk, the Turkmen authorities also do not allow railway cars with Tajik cargo to pass through their territory.

On February 14, the head of the customs service of Tajikistan, Khurshed Karimzoda, told Asia-Plus that the first cars had already received permission to drive through Turkmenistan. Talking about the fact that Turkmenistan detains precisely Tajik cars and cars, and misses the goods of other countries, the official called rumors. However, on February 15, Azatlyk Radio reported that Tajik wagons are still awaiting permission to enter Turkmenistan.

On February 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, said that the Turkmen Foreign Ministry did not respond to requests and did not explain the reasons for the delay of Tajik trucks on its border.

On February 4, Turkmenistan suddenly stopped passing trucks across its borders to or from Tajikistan. At the same time, trucks traveling to other countries cross the border without hindrance.
