Railway builders from Turkmenistan arrived in the Afghan city of Akina to continue the construction of the Akina-Andkhoy railway line.
The laying of this steel line is carried out by the forces and means of Turkmenistan in accordance with the agreement signed earlier between the Turkmen Railways Agency and the Afghan Railways Organization. In this regard, Turkmen specialists brought with them all the necessary machinery, equipment and materials.
The construction of the Akina-Andkhoy branch, 30 kilometers long, began in July 2019. For various reasons, including restrictions imposed due to the pandemic, 29 kilometers 200 meters of railway were built. It is assumed that the remaining 800 meters of the railway track will be laid within one month.
