On September 1, by order of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov , humanitarian aid was sent to Afghanistan, "which, in fact, became the first humanitarian delivery of the Turkmen side to Afghanistan after the well-known events in the neighboring country." This was reported by the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
The humanitarian aid included medicines, protective clothing for medical staff and medical supplies, disinfectants, medicinal solutions, protective masks, surgical gloves, means and drugs for the treatment of coronavirus infection .
The delivery ceremony of the humanitarian aid took place in the village of Turgundi in the Herat province with the participation of regional leaders and members of the Turkmen diaspora.
Assistance to Afghanistan was discussed on August 30 at a meeting of representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Health and security agencies of Turkmenistan with representatives of the Andkhoy, Khancharbagh, Gurgan regions and the head of the Akina customs point.
