Turkmenistan supports the “One China” policy and the territorial integrity of the People’s Republic of China

Today, on August 5, 2022, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs V. Hajiyev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan Mr. Xian Naichen. The Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan informs about this.

The diplomats discussed a number of issues related to the further development of traditionally friendly Turkmen-Chinese relations. Today, the high efficiency of implementation of joint economic and socio-cultural projects has been noted.

In order to strengthen bilateral political cooperation, it was emphasized that the high-level and high-level meetings of the parties are one of the main indicators of deepening of strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and HHR. In this regard, the parties proposed to discuss the issue of organizing mutual state, parliamentary and government visits.

Diplomats discussed international issues and stated that Turkmenistan and China's views on the most important issues on the world agenda coincided or were similar, and also emphasized their joint active actions in the regional field.

It was recognized that the key to such successful activities is the strict adherence of both countries to the norms and principles of the UN Charter, and first of all, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

Over the years, the Turkmen side has repeatedly announced its support for the "One China" policy, which has been mentioned in all major Turkmen-Chinese documents.

The position of Turkmenistan remains unchanged: the Turkmen side is committed to the "One China" policy and supports China's sovereignty and territorial integrity based on international law.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue diplomatic relations in accordance with the previously established plans.
