Turkmenistan to apply on including of Ahalteke horse in the UNESCO World Heritage List

During the session of the Government of March 10, the Head of the State requested to start cataloguing of thoroughbred ahalteke horses, to make detailed register of most remarkable representatives of the elite or world horse-breeding with notes on their achievements, origin and other information.

It was mentioned that it is necessary to register the catalogue in relative international organizations, after which the reference to this would be mandatory. It is also necessary to reflect the role of Turkmen people in protection of the ahalteke phenomenon and the measures undertaken by the Government of the country for development of national traditions of horse-breeding in multi volume edition.

Having noted the uniqueness of ahalteke breed, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pointed at the appropriateness of application to the UNESCO on including of ahalteke horses into the World Heritage List.

There is stable interest to revival of stud farms, scientific and education base of this branch, equestrian clubs in our days and in this regard, the traditions of Turkmen horse-breeding, which efficiency is proven by the centuries, and national school of horse training attract most interested attention of the professionals.

Along with large-scale and comprehensive activity for increase of head of livestock of pedigree horses undertaken in the country, large attention is paid to integration of domestic equestrian sport into international industry, development of the sports and training of jockeys, who would be able to represent deservingly Turkmenistan in international sport arena and what is most important, to education of young generation on primordially creative traditions of Turkmen people.

Having highlighted the importance of continuation of multidimensional effective work in the sphere of ahalteke horse-breeding, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov requested to develop relative proposals on establishment of scientific and research centre of this profile.
