Turkmenistan will extend contracts for the supply of electricity to Afghanistan. The corresponding resolution in order to implement plans to export Turkmen electricity to foreign countries was signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting.
The document allows the state electric power corporation "Turkmenenergo" to conclude additional agreements to extend the terms of contracts concluded with the Afghan company "Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat" for the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, as well as to establish the volume and price of the supplied electricity."
Turkmenistan has been providing electricity to the northern regions of Afghanistan for a number of years at preferential prices. Currently, Turkmen electricity is supplied to Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
