Turkmenistan to purchase helicopters to render medical assistance to residents

At the session of Turkmenistan's Cabinet of Ministers held on 31 January, 2020 Deputy Prime Minister overseeing transportation, communications and industry Bairamgeldi Ovezov briefed President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov that helicopter ambulances will be purchased.

The state information agency TDH reports that Turkmenistan's Healthcare Ministry intends to purchase medical helicopters manufactured by the Kazan plant (the Republic of Tatarstan) to render emergency medical services to residents in the capital and velayats.

Let us recall that Ansat helicopters were demonstrated to President Berdymukhammedov in June 2019 by the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minninkhamov during the official visit of the Turkmen President to Kazan. Meanwhile, as the Healthcare Ministry is purchasing helicopters, the Ashgabat hospitals have no opportunity even to repair the lifts which often results in fatalities and doctors and passengers are forced to use the stairs.
