Turkmenistan will send humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people this April, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on the 26th.
The humanitarian cargo will include medicines and other products of the medical industry of Turkmenistan, as well as textiles.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not name the reasons for sending the cargo to Ukraine.
Turkmenistan regularly sends humanitarian aid to Afghanistan . During emergencies, she was also sent to the Astrakhan region , Iran and Turkey .
It should be noted that the state media mentioned the situation in Ukraine only once, after the evacuation of Turkmen students on March 10. Then the state information agency TDH reported on “difficult circumstances that have arisen in Ukraine.”
At the same time, according to information from foreign press services and the media, Turkmen officials (including the president ) regularly discuss the war in Ukraine during meetings with foreign colleagues.
At the same time, on April 7, Turkmenistan did not take part in the vote to exclude Russia from the UN Human Rights Council. The rest of the countries of the Central Asian region voted against.
On March 2, Turkmenistan also did not take part in the voting on the Resolution of the UN General Assembly “Aggression against Ukraine”.
On April 6, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Turkmen diplomatic relations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that “Moscow highly appreciates the neutral status of Turkmenistan, which in fact is a factor in maintaining peace, security and stability in the Central Asian region.”
