Turkmenistan to send medicines and food to flood-affected Pakistan

Turkmenistan will provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Pakistan.

On September 2, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Textile Industry, the Ministry of Health and the UIET to transfer humanitarian aid to this country free of charge.

The cargo, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should send in September, will include medicines and medical supplies, as well as goods and products.

At the end of August, Pakistan was hit by the heaviest torrential rains in decades, which led to severe flooding. The death toll exceeded 1.2 thousand people. In total, 33.4 million people were affected by the floods . About 45% of Pakistan's agricultural land is flooded with water. Initial estimates put the damage at $10 billion.

Turkmenistan regularly sends humanitarian aid to other countries, most often to Afghanistan . During emergencies, she was also sent to the Astrakhan region , Iran and Turkey . In April, humanitarian aid was also sent to Ukraine .
