Turkmenistan took part in the 48th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov took part in the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Islamabad.

The annual meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of Muslim countries was held under the motto "Building a partnership for the sake of unity, justice and development."

R. Meredov, speaking at the session, informed about the results of the presidential elections in Turkmenistan, held on March 12, and thanked the observers from the OIC for active monitoring of the electoral process.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of Ashgabat's initiative to form a new philosophy of modern international relations, called "Dialogue is a guarantee of peace."

Speaking about the issue of supporting Afghanistan, the minister stressed that the position of Turkmenistan is based on the understanding of the unity of the political, economic and humanitarian aspects of the Afghan problem.

The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also drew the attention of the session participants to the need to further develop partnerships in the field of international transport. In this regard, the forum participants were informed that a conference of ministers of transport of landlocked developing countries, held by the UN in cooperation with the Turkmen government, would be held in August 2022 in Turkmenistan.
