The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Khadzhiev took part in the conference on interconnectedness between Central Asia and the European Union “Global Gateway for Sustainable Development” (Global Gateway), held in Samarkand.
The meeting was attended by government delegations of the Central Asian states and heads of European political and financial institutions headed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
During the conference, topical problems of interaction in the field of diversification of transport routes, digitalization, as well as green energy development were considered.
In his speech, Vepa Khadzhiev noted that digitalization is one of the priority areas of state policy in Turkmenistan. According to him, Ashgabat considers promising the implementation of projects on the use of digitalization for the development of regional trade, the rational use of water resources, as well as projects to increase human potential.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan held talks with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The parties discussed issues on the digital agenda, as well as the problems of developing bilateral and interregional partnerships.
