Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of foreign ministers of the “Central Asia – China” format

Turkmenistan took part in the third meeting of foreign ministers of the "Central Asia - China" format, held in the capital of Kazakhstan, the city of Nur-Sultan. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, the representative of Turkmenistan noted the effectiveness of the political and diplomatic dialogue between the countries of Central Asia and China, aimed at strengthening peace and stability in the Central Asian region.

The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry made a special emphasis on the prospects for energy, transport and communication cooperation along the line of Central Asia - China. In this regard, he noted the readiness of Turkmenistan to consistently increase the supply of natural gas to China through the territory of Central Asia.

Speaking about transport interaction, Meredov noted the real possibility of organizing a multimodal transport connection from China to the west through the territory of Central Asia. According to the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, it is natural to use the capabilities of the port infrastructure of Turkmenistan on the Caspian Sea in this area.

The participants of the meeting also discussed issues of the Afghan problem, joining efforts to combat new challenges, as well as joint work to overcome the consequences of the pandemic.

Following the talks, the parties adopted a joint statement and a roadmap for the development of regional cooperation for 2022-2025.
