Turkmenistan took part in the online conference “Italy + Central Asia”

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov made a video address at the second ministerial conference "Italy + Central Asia", held in Tashkent. The meeting was attended by the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the countries of Central Asia, Italy, as well as representatives of the European Union.

The participants in the talks discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda. Particular attention was paid to issues of political and economic interaction.

In his video message, R. Meredov noted the similarity or coincidence of the positions of the states participating in the multilateral dialogue on the most important issues of world politics. According to the head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, the negotiations in the "Italy + Central Asia" format are aimed at strengthening peace and stability, and also demonstrate the commitment of the participants in the meeting to the principles of peace and trust.

Speaking about the pandemic as a new global challenge, R. Meredov noted that Ashgabat fully supports the consolidated actions of the world community to combat the negative consequences of the pandemic. The Minister stressed that Turkmenistan has put forward initiatives to create the necessary conditions for systemic interaction of medical scientists and experts, including within the framework of international organizations.

Touching upon the topic of multilateral cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry noted that Ashgabat is also taking practical measures to solve the problem of climate change.

Within the framework of the conference, a round table was also held on the topic "Current state and prospects for the development of scientific cooperation between Italy and Central Asia."
