Turkmenistan Vice Prime Ministers Responsible for Trade and Media Reprimanded

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on May 6, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov issued two reprimands to Deputy Prime Ministers responsible for trade Chara Gylyjov and culture and the media Myakhrijemal Mammedova , the state information agency TDH reports .

After Gylydzhov's report, the head of state expressed dissatisfaction with the growing imports of products (potatoes, onions, garlic, fruits, flour, butter, etc.), although the issue of import substitution of foreign products was repeatedly raised earlier.

Berdimuhamedov again ordered the Deputy Prime Minister to increase the production of domestic and reduce the import of foreign products that can be produced in Turkmenistan and severely reprimanded him with a final warning “for improper performance of official duties, failure to comply with instructions to reduce imports, weakening control over the activities of subordinate institutions in the field of trade, the admission of corruption in this area, the failure to prevent illegal acts in the sale of vegetable oil to the population .

Recall that the day before, Prosecutor General Batyr Atdaev reported on the results of anti-corruption checks at the Ministry of Trade. They took place in the shops of Akhal velayat and Ashgabat, the owners of which hid flour, vegetable oil from open sale and sold them at inflated prices. 14 people received from 8 to 20 years in prison.

Vice Prime Minister Chary Gylyjov received similar reprimands “with a final warning” from President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on December 20 and October 8 last year and on August 21, 2020.

On April 19, Orazmyrat Gurbannazarov , Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations , was removed from his post by Presidential Decree "for health reasons" . His duties are temporarily performed by Begench Gochmollaev .

Also, the vice-premier for culture and media, Myakhrijemal Mammedova , received a reprimand .

S. Berdimuhamedov was dissatisfied with the quality of television programs, which "should reflect positive changes and the work of citizens aimed at developing the economy." It should be noted that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov repeatedly gave similar instructions .

The reprimand was announced "for improper performance of official duties, shortcomings in the work."

The head of state noted that he would return to the work of the sphere supervised by the Deputy Prime Minister when summing up the results of the first half of the year.
