It is noted that Turkmenistan has become the first country in the region visited by a UN representative as part of a working trip undertaken to participate in the upcoming High-Level International Conference “Water for Sustainable Development” in Tajikistan the other day.
The parties discussed possible areas of joint work within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
TDH writes that "Amina Mohammed thanked Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the active position of the Turkmen side in resolving issues related to the pressing problems of mankind : ensuring global energy security, developing international cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, rational use of resources, climate change and environmental protection."
However, in its Twitter account, the UN in Turkmenistan only briefly reported that at a meeting with the president, “the main directions of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN were discussed.”
Amina Mohammed did not announce the meeting with the head of state in her account, but said that at the meeting with the chairperson of the Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova , they discussed how women in political positions can influence in their communities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
However, the press services of the Turkmen departments did not inform about this meeting.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan announced the meeting of the UN representative with the head of the department Rashid Meredov , who spoke about strengthening international transport systems in emergency situations.
He also noted that Turkmenistan supports the holding of the Education Transformation Summit in September in New York and said that Turkmenistan is working to improve the national education system and ensure equal access to quality education .
The UN office in Turkmenistan reports that at the meeting, Mohammed thanked Meredov for supporting the implementation of the UN Framework Program for Cooperation and providing state co-financing for joint programs.
The UN Deputy Secretary General also met with the Turkmen youth, who are involved in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition, she discussed with the UN Country Team the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and with representatives of civil society organizations, issues of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
