Turkmenistan wants to enter the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-speaking countries and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic countries

On February 26, a telephone conversation took place between the Acting President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan .

Berdimuhamedov congratulated Erdogan on his birthday and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey, the state information agency TDH reports .

The parties noted fruitful cooperation in the energy sector, textile industry and healthcare. It was also discussed about attracting Turkish enterprises to the Turkmen market.

Berdimuhamedov stated "Turkmenistan's interest in participating as a member in the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Countries," TDH notes.

In November 2021, Turkmenistan was admitted to the Organization of Turkic States (OTG, formerly the Turkic Council) as an observer.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic, Banking and International Financial Organizations Serdar Berdimuhamedov phoned the Minister of Trade of Turkey Mehmet Mus , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports .

The parties discussed cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and expansion of partnership in the field of trade and the textile industry.

Recall that on February 25, Mehmet Mush's visit to Ashgabat and his negotiations with the acting president and a number of deputy prime ministers were scheduled.

According to official figures, Turkey has invested about $434 million in Turkmenistan, and Turkmenistan has invested about $1 million in Turkey. Turkish contractors have implemented more than 1,060 projects worth $50 billion in Turkmenistan.
