Turkmenistan will supply gas to Kazakhstan

On May 20, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar , who arrived in Turkmenistan, the state information agency TDH reports .

At the meeting, agreements were reached on the supply of Turkmen gas to Kazakhstan . The Kazakh side also expressed interest in implementing a project to build a grain storage terminal on the territory of Turkmenistan, the newspaper writes.

On the same day, the TDH published a message from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev , to his colleague, in which he recalled that “ in October last year, specific agreements were reached on the implementation of promising projects in the gas industry, as well as the construction of a grain terminal on the Turkmen-Afghan border” . Roman Sklyar was sent to Ashgabat to discuss these projects.

The website of the government of Kazakhstan briefly reports that the parties discussed cooperation in the trade, economic, agricultural and energy sectors, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached during Tokayev's visit to Turkmenistan. Roman Sklyar also held talks with Deputy Prime Ministers Shahym Abdrakhmanov (in charge of the oil and gas industry), Chary Gylydzhov (in charge of trade) and Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev (in charge of the agro-industrial complex).

On October 24-25, 2021, the state visit of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Turkmenistan took place. At the briefing, he said that Kazakhstan is ready to increase supplies to Turkmenistan of products of the metallurgical, food and pharmaceutical industries, as well as agricultural products, primarily flour and wheat . In addition, it was noted that Kazakhstan is also ready to significantly increase the import of Turkmen gas.

At the January 11 meeting of the Organization of Turkic States, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov said that starting from March of this year, Turkmenistan is ready to start exporting natural gas and electricity to Kazakhstan.

In February of this year, Roman Sklyar visited Ashgabat, where he discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the head of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov .
