Turkmenistan will switch to drawing up three-year state budgets

On Friday, June 24, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the state information agency TDH reports .

The head of state has not appeared on TV screens since June 20. According to Turkmen news , from June 21 to 23, Serdar Berdimuhamedov traveled to Germany for treatment.

The first to report on his work was Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Muhammetguly Mukhammedov , who spoke about the development of the state budget for 2023, as well as plans to switch from 2025 to medium-term budget planning and organize the management of this area "in accordance with the realities of the time."

The transition to medium-term budget planning provides for the transition to the preparation of state budgets for three years in advance , as well as the creation of a special state commission to control the execution of budgets.

The reform, according to Mukhammedov, is being carried out "in accordance with the realities of the time."

President Berdimuhamedov noted that "in the current conditions" it is very important to correctly and competently implement economic regulation.

What is meant by "realities of the time" and "current conditions", neither the Deputy Prime Minister nor the head of state specified. As a rule, the state media of Turkmenistan replace the definitions of “crisis” or “problem” with such turns of speech, - ed. HT.

The Deputy Prime Minister also spoke about financing the construction of a new airport in the Jebel village of the Balkan velayat. Loans for the implementation of the project will be attracted from the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, the Central Bank and Vnesheconombank.

In June 2021, the Abu Dhabi Development Fund allocated $100 million to Turkmenistan for the construction of two facilities: $75 million for an airport in Jebel with a capacity of 100 people per hour and $25 million for a 10 megawatt hybrid power plant near Altyn Asyr Lake.
