Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry briefs on the visit of its delegation to North Korea

On 25 July 2018 the news outlet Reuters reported that the delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Khadjiev, arrived in the capital of North Korea � Pyongyang.

A few days later Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry reported that on 25-26 July political consultations between Foreign Ministries of both countries were held in Pyongyang.

North Korea was represented by Deputy Foreign Ministry of North Korea Sin Hong Chol.

� The sides expressed confidence that the political consultations held in Pyongyang will play a key role in deepening of friendship between the two countries and strengthening of Turkmen-Korean partnership in all areas. The importance of ensuring the high level political dialogue between Turkmenistan and Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which will give impetus for the dynamic development of bilateral relations, was emphasized, � Foreign Ministry reported.

Energy, transportation, agriculture and cultural and humanitarian area are among the directions which are of mutual interest.

After negotiations the sides signed the cooperation program between Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry and North Korea for 2018-2020 and Memorandum of Understanding on political counseling between Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Ministry of North Korea.
