Paris: The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, embarked on an official visit to the French Republic on May 5-6, 2025. The visit included an extensive agenda aimed at bolstering partnerships between the two nations. According to Turkmenistan State News Agency, upon his arrival in Paris, Hero-Arkadag was welcomed by a French official who highlighted the strong cooperative relationship between France and Turkmenistan. The Chairman expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated the longstanding and fruitful relations between the two countries. During the visit, Hero-Arkadag met Martin Bouygues at the residence of the chief of the French company 'Bouygues'. Martin Bouygues expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Turkmenistan and conveyed greetings to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He noted the favorable conditions for business in Turkmenistan and emphasized the company's role in educational projects, such as the creation of a French language school in Turkmenistan. Hero-Arkadag acknowledged the significant contributions of 'Bouygues' in Turkmenistan and discussed opportunities for further cooperation on new projects. The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of gratitude and a commitment to continue strengthening ties. The National Leader also participated in the Turkmen-French Economic Forum, attended by representatives of leading French companies and Turkmen entrepreneurs. Philippe Gautier, Executive Director of 'MEDEF', welcomed Hero-Arkadag and emphasized the forum's importance in enhancing bilateral relations. Hero-Arkadag's speech focused on Turkmenistan's geopolitical and economic landscape, and his participation increased French companies' interest in the Turkmen market. The forum included the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding in fields such as defense, agriculture, water management, and the gas industry, involving French companies like 'Airbus Defense and Space SAS' and 'SUEZ Interna tional'. Following the forum, an official welcoming ceremony took place at the Palace, where Hero-Arkadag was greeted by State Secretary Patricia Miralles and General Loïc Mizon. The ceremony included the performance of national anthems and introductions between the official delegations of both nations. The visit concluded with a meeting between Hero-Arkadag and French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including finance, energy, urban development, and communications, further solidifying the partnership between Turkmenistan and France.
