Turkmenistan’s NSM identifies public sector employees employed outside their field of specialization

Starting from April the NSM officers and representatives of the Supreme Auditing and Oversight Chamber are carrying out inspections in government agencies and organizations of Ashgabat in an attempt to check whether the position an official holds is relevant to his diploma.

Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan report that such inspections have already been conducted in the Statistics Office, in the banks, in the Geological Survey Institutions, in offices of the Ministry of Economy and Development, in the airport HR departments and some other organizations.

As a result of the inspection, hundreds of cases when individuals have jobs in a different field than their field of specialization have been identified. These individuals are under threat of dismissals.

The personnel holding Teacher Training diplomas most often work outside their field of qualification. They are employed as engineering staff, accountants, HR specialists etc. Many secure jobs using their connections.

At the same time, Turkmenistan's schools are experiencing a shortage of teaching staff.

The inspections are still underway.
