Employees of the public utilities departments as well as healthcare practitioners and bank officers have launched preparations for the celebration of the Day of Independence, which is celebrated on 27 September.

Correspondents of Chronicles of Turkmenistan report that daily rehearsals and marching start at 4 p.m. at Dagsan stadium. Residents are allowed to leave their places ?? work at 3 p.m.to participate in the largescale events.

I see patients who queue up starting from early in the morning. I close my office at 3 p.m. and head to the stadium. I explain the situation to elderly patients who have been waiting in the queue for a few hours and offer my apologies, a medical doctor from one of Ashgabat's outpatient clinics said. People are discontent. What can I do? I will be marching under the burning sun for three hours.

In the past one could send a replacement to attend a rehearsal and stay at work place. Now personal attendance is required. There is nobody at work to replace you and you also have to cook dinner at home after rehearsals are over, a female employee of the social security department complained.

Radio Azatlyk also gave coverage of the rehearsals and reports that residents are urged to do various exercises for hours on hot summer days. Those engaged in rehearsals have no opportunity to have a proper meal or go to the toilet. Military personnel and law enforcement officers are also engaged in rehearsals.

The Radio also reported that the state television made footage of the Eid alAdha celebration ceremony, which public sector employees, schoolchildren university students, as well as kindergarten kids were obliged to attend. The holy holiday of Eid alAdha is scheduled to be held on 1113 August.

Let us recall that on 5 August President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedovheld a video conference where he charged Ashgabat's khyakim as well as heads of all velayats to get ready for Eid alAdha, the start of the new academic year and the session of the Khalk Maslakhaty.
