UNESCO Chairs have been established at the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi.
The ceremony of signing the relevant agreements between universities and UNESCO was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in an online format. After the documents were signed by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, their electronic copies were received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where, in accordance with the order of the President of Turkmenistan, they were signed by rectors of universities. At the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, the UNESCO Chair will be called "Cultural Heritage: from the Past to the Future" and at the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi - "Environmental Education for Sustainable Development".
According to universities, the creation of UNESCO Chairs will help educate young people on the basis of universal and national values, expand their knowledge on issues of culture, history, ecology and environmental protection.
