Tashkent: Uzbekistan has proposed to initiate pilot transportation within the territories of Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries as part of the future application of the Agreement on the Simplified Customs Corridor. Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, chairman of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, made the announcement at the tenth meeting of the Directors of Customs Administration of OTS, APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mavlonov emphasized the importance of the proposal, stating, "I propose to start pilot transportations in a few directions within the territories of our country with a goal of future application of the Agreement on the Simplified Customs Corridor and use the current mutual information exchange channels. We want our entrepreneurs to benefit from this document."
Mavlonov also expressed Uzbekistan's active support for the implementation of the Transcaspian customs transit portal, an initiative led by Azerbaijan. He urged for a swift signing of the legal framework necessary for utilizing the Transit portal, highlighting the need to accelerate the process to benefit all member states involved.
