On January 30, Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat , the press service of the Russian Duma reported .
The parties discussed issues of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. According to Volodin, it is necessary to develop a "parliamentary dimension" in order to provide a legislative basis for decisions taken by the leaderships of the two states.
“Relations between our countries are developing,” Volodin noted. - In many ways, the dynamics are set by the heads of our states. Therefore, it is important that, within the framework of the parliamentary dimension, we do everything to provide legislative support for the decisions made at the level of the leaders of our countries , but, of course, we do everything to ensure that decisions are made at our level and issues in the interests of our countries are discussed.”
Today, Vyacheslav Volodin is also scheduled to meet with the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova , after which he will address the deputies of the Mejlis.
The delegation arrived the day before. The delegation includes representatives of relevant committees of the State Duma. The visit of the Duma delegation was the first in 11 years, the report says.
The state information agency TDH briefly reports that the meeting discussed the development of the Turkmen-Russian partnership in various fields, and paid special attention to expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries.
