Vladimir Putin and S. Berdimuhamedov discussed cooperation in the energy sector by phone

On January 17, Presidents of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation .

“Highly appreciating the achieved level of the Russian-Turkmenistan strategic partnership, the heads of state discussed a number of specific issues of practical cooperation in the energy sector,” the Kremlin press service said in a statement without any additional details.

Earlier on the same day, it became known about the visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Turkmenistan on January 19-20.

In September 2022, Berdymukhammedov and Putin met on the sidelines of the SCO summit. Then the heads of Turkmenistan and Russia also discussed the topic of energy cooperation.

Recall that in 2019 Russia resumed the import of Turkmen gas after a four-year break.
