Vladimir Putin presented G. Berdimuhamedov with the Order “For Services to the Fatherland”, which he awarded him in August

On November 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the former President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree, the Kremlin press service  reported .

 

Vladimir Putin  signed the decree on awarding Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with this order on August 26. The document stated that the ex-president was awarded the order “for his great contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.”

 

 

 

“These days you are in Russia in a different capacity than we have been used to working together for many years. But in whatever capacity you appear in Russia, we are always glad to see you, because you have made a huge contribution to the development of our bilateral interstate relations. This applies to all spheres of activity – both humanitarian and economic. With your direct, direct participation, relations between Russia and Turkmenistan have reached a very high, almost allied level of strategic partnership,” the head of Russia said.

 

Putin stressed that his ex-colleague gave “a very good impetus to the development of relations, and this dynamics does not decrease with the advent of the new president.” Serdar Berdimuhamedov .”

 

“We have established very good personal relations with him, interstate ties are developing very actively. Of course, this is also a backlog that you have made. We proceed from the fact that the policy of Turkmenistan in the Russian direction will continue in the traditional way developed by you ,” he added.

 

“With all these achievements in mind, we have decided to award you with the state award of Russia – the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree. This is a very high award, it fully corresponds to the contribution you made to the development of our interstate ties,” Vladimir Putin said.

 

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed that Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation are strategic partners, which has been proven “both in life and in time.”

 

He recalled that inter-parliamentary relations have recently been intensified, and during the visit an agreement was signed on the establishment of an inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation.

 

Touching upon the topic of the award, the ex-president noted that this day is “historical, significant” for him.

 

“This once again proves – a symbol of what is really between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia – that we have always kept our bonds and good neighborliness, and cooperation, and in general our relationship. And of course, it is gratifying that we, together, probably also made some kind of historical contribution to our common issues,” the ex-president noted.

 

On November 1-3, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh (upper house of parliament) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to Russia. The ex-president met  with Chairman of the Federation Council  Valentina Matvienko ,  spoke  at a meeting of the Federation Council and held talks with Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin .

 

As part of the visit, a round table was also held in Moscow on the topic “Inter-parliamentary cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia: direction and priorities,” the state information agency TDH reports .

 

The possibility of cooperation was also discussed at the meeting of the head of the Galkynyş National Equestrian Games Group with the general director of the Moscow State Circus and the general director of the Kremlin Riding School.
