Within the framework of the WB project for $20 million, Turkmenistan received devices for PCR diagnostics

The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, with the support of UNDP, received laboratory equipment for PCR diagnostics, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported on February 12.

10 Qiagen Rotor Gene Q Plex-6 machines, 10 thermoblocks, 6 microcentrifuges, 6 centrifuges and 6 autoclaves were delivered to the country. The equipment has already been installed in Ashgabat; regions will be equipped in the future, the newspaper notes.

The delivery was made as part of the COVID-19 Response project.

The $20 million COVID-19 Response Project in Turkmenistan is funded by the World Bank and implemented by UNDP and the Ministry of Health to help strengthen preparedness and response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to strengthen national testing and treatment capacity, improve the skills of medical workers, procure reagents, medicines and medical equipment, and address social and health risks associated with the pandemic.

The agreement on its implementation was signed by the Ministry of Health and UNDP in autumn 2021.
