Baku: The World Bank has played a significant role in modernizing Azerbaijan’s key sectors, including energy, agriculture, transport, and healthcare, through over 50 investment projects, according to Shahmar Movsumov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Movsumov, who is also the Head of the Department of Economic Issues and Innovative Development Policy of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, shared these insights during the presentation of the World Bank’s annual global report, as reported by APA-Economics.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Movsumov emphasized that these projects have not only strengthened Azerbaijan’s economy but have also enhanced the quality of life for its citizens. He highlighted the World Bank’s expertise in improving the business environment, attracting investments, and expanding critical infrastructure, such as roads and irrigation systems. The initiatives have also supported digital transformation and bolstered Azerbaijan’s competitiveness, in addition to promoting climate resilience and green energy solutions.
Movsumov further elaborated that looking ahead, the World Bank remains a crucial partner in Azerbaijan’s journey towards strengthening institutions, fostering innovation, and ensuring inclusive growth. The ongoing collaboration aims to continue driving progress in these strategic areas, positioning Azerbaijan for a sustainable future.
