XIII Economic Cooperation Organization Summit starts in Islamabad

High level XIII Summit of the Heads of the States of the Economic Cooperation Organization started work in Islamabad, where President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov takes part.

Current meeting of the Heads of the States and Governments, high-rank representatives of the ECO members and international organizations will be important phase in the activity of the Organization for analyses of the past work and definition of perspective future directions.

The forum takes place in Serena Hotel. Official joint photography ceremony was held prior the start of the session.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will make speech at the Summit.

The issues of provision of the security in the region including energy and ecological, partnership in transport sphere are priority directions of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the ECO. Turkmenistan proposes important initiatives in all these directions.

The initiatives on establishment of international transport regional and continental corridors, formulated by the Head of the State, acquire special urgency today.

Establishment of favourable international conditions for provision of global energy security is extremely important aspect of foreign policy of Turkmenistan.

In 2008 and 2013, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted Draft Resolutions by Turkmenistan on reliable and stable transportation of energy carriers to the world's market.

Recently, steadily pursuing the strategy of diversification, Turkmenistan together with its partners realized number of large pipeline projects in eastern and southern directions. Another large energy project - construction of Turkmenistan � Afghanistan � Pakistan � India gas main (TAPI), entered the phase of practical realization.

There is press conference planned to be held by the outcomes of the ECO Summit.
