Young Turkmen citizens take part in the I Winter Sports Games “Children of Asia”

The I Winter International Sports Games Children of Asia started in the Russian city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, in which the national team of Turkmenistan takes part. Our country, where the snow is exotic, is represented by a junior hockey team and two ice skaters.

On February 9, a colorful opening ceremony of the Games was held at the Spartak stadium in the regional center of Sakhalin, in which young athletes from Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Tajikistan took part , Thailand, Turkmenistan, the Philippines, Japan, as well as teams from Moscow, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Far Eastern, Siberian and Ural Federal Districts of the Russian Federation.

A day earlier, the medals of the competition were presented, which were symbolically transferred to the Steller Nysh. It was this type of seal that became the mascot of the current Games.

During the week will be about 30 competitions in various disciplines. In total, 8 kinds of sports are declared: biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, snowboarding, alpine skiing, hockey, speed skating (short track) and ski jumping.

From February 11, young Turkmen hockey players will face matches with the teams of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kazakhstan and the Ural Federal District of Russia. Figure skaters will enter the fight for medals on February 13, on this day they will present a short program.

At present, athletes are undergoing a period of acclimatization and are training, getting used to the frosty weather that is unaccustomed to heat-loving people of Turkmenistan.
