Few unresolved issues left related to Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization – EU Special Representative

"There are few unresolved issues left related to Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization," European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar said in an interview with Armenpress, APA reports. Touching upon the meetings in the "3+3" format, Klaar said that he sees it as a format for joint discussion of regional countries with problems. According to him, initially, there was an understanding that the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the peace treaty, and normalization between the two countries should not be discussed in this format. Diplomat stressed that the main issue is the achievement of progress in the peace process, and it is of little importance on what platform it will be achieved. Toivo Klaar also added that there is no real reason why the normalization process should not make significant progress, as there are very few outstanding issues and they have already been discussed several times. Special Representative also emphasized that, there fore, there is no reason why rapid progress in the direction of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia should not be achieved.
