Georgian parliamentary delegation visits Great Leader’s grave and Alley of MartyrsBritish Parliament welcomes joint statement of Azerbaijan and Armenia

Baku: A delegation led by Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili has today visited the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to national leader, architect and founder of the independent Azerbaijani state Heydar Aliyev, and to lay a wreath and flowers at his grave. They also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. Then, the delegation proceeded to the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity, put flowers at their graves. The participants also laid flowers at the Eternal Flame monument. The guests enjoyed a panoramic view from the highest point of Baku and were informed about the history of the Alley of Martyrs and redevelopment of the city. Source: Azerbaijan State News Agency The British Parliament expressed support for the joint statement of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia dated December 7, the Azerbaijani Embassy in the UK said, Trend reports. House of Commons member David Duguid, in his speech in parliament, called the joint statement a historical event. He inquired about the efforts of the British government towards achieving a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. British Foreign Minister for Europe Leo Docherty noted that the joint statement of Azerbaijan and Armenia, confirming their intention to normalize bilateral relations, is encouraging.
