Kyrgyz-Chinese Business Forum held in XUAR

A Kyrgyz-Chinese Business Forum was held in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The event was attended by the head of the Cabinet Akylbek Japarov.

He noted that during his trip to XUAR, mutually beneficial decisions were made to increase trade, modernize checkpoints, implement projects in the energy sector and build a highway.

«We agreed to adopt a plan of joint practical actions to implement the agreements already reached during my visit to XUAR. This document will be a kind of «road map» for joint work,» said Akylbek Japarov.

He added that with the support of the XUAR government, since the beginning of August, two checkpoints Irkeshtam and Torugart have switched to a 12-hour daily working schedule. The head of the Cabinet expressed hope that in the future the checkpoints would work around the clock that would significantly increase their throughput.

Akylbek Japarov mentioned the upcoming launch of the new Bedel checkpoint, adding that a document has been signed that would become the basis for the construction of Barskoon — Uchturfan — Aksu highway running through the planned Bedel checkpoint.

The head of the Cabinet added that the Kyrgyz side is ready to support transactions in yuan.

As a result of the business forum, 29 agreements were signed for a total amount of more than $1 billion.
