President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to visit AzerbaijanBaku-hosted Non-Aligned Movement Conference on Advancing Rights and Empowerment of Women wraps up

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay a working visit to Azerbaijan on November 24, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan says, Trend reports. According to the information, the head of state will take part in the summit of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), which will be held in Baku. The UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) was established on 26 March 1998 by the Tashkent Declaration, signed by the Presidents of the Central Asian countries and the Executive Secretaries of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) as a special program UN to assist these countries in economic development, cooperation and integration into the economies of Europe and Asia. Currently, the participating states of SPECA are Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. UNECE and ESCAP jointly provide comprehensiv e support to activities under the Program in close cooperation with the UN Resident Coordinators in the SPECA countries. SPECA provides a platform for subregional cooperation to implement those Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that can best be achieved through regional cooperation. Source: Trend News Agency Co-organized by Azerbaijan, the current Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as Uganda and Uzbekistan, the next chairs of the organization, the Non-Aligned Movement Conference on Advancing the Rights and Empowerment of Women has wrapped up in Baku. Following the panel sessions, the NAM member states adopted the Declaration, which envisages the development of women`s rights and the empowerment of women. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the full and equal participation of women in society, and placed special importance on promoting the equal participation of women in the political systems of the NAM member states. Highlighting the importance of involving men and boys in the future processes, the member states reiterated their firm commitment to continue the fight until all forms of violence against women are completely eliminated. Participants also hailed the inclusion and integration of the goal of achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, as well as a gender perspective into the 2030 Development Agenda. The Declaration also featured the decision to establish another institution - the Women's Platform under the Non-Aligned Movement - with the initiative of Azerbaijan.
